  On Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, Alex Ace Phinney Jr. was received into the Heavenly Kingdom. He was born Oct. 26, 1924, in Tom Green County on the home place to Alex Ace and Lora (Moore) Phinney. Receiving him into heaven are his parents; sister Lily Averitt; and brother Charlie. Ace is survived by his wife, Billie (Clark) Phinney; sons and daughters-in-law Gregory and Pam and Gary and Patsy; grandsons Ken (Janet) and Matt (Jayna); granddaughters Lisa Phinney, JJ (Jeremy) Hartgrove and Kimberly (Bobby) Werner; great-grandsons Carson Hartgrove and William Ace Phinney; and great-granddaughters Dylan Hartgrove, Laura Phinney, Abby, Kadie and Lily Werner and Cameron and Harper Phinney. He is also survived by his sister, Clara Hamlin; sister-in-law Joy (Larry) Johnson; and several nieces and nephews. His beloved and constant companion, JR, also remains with Billie. Ace farmed and ranched most of his life and loved the land. He will be remembered by family and friends as a man who loved his wife and family members and took pride in each and every one of them.
