- Richard Wayne Wingate, 85, of Kitty Hawk, NC died Thursday, October 4, 2018, at Peak Resources ? Outer Banks.
Born in Baltimore, MD on February 8, 1933, he was the son of the late Harriett Weitzel and Nathaniel Wingate. One of ten children, Wayne learned early the importance of family. Everything revolved around his family and their time spent together.
A Korean War veteran, he served his country honorably in the United States Army?s 82nd Airborne Division. He would later retire as an accountant.
In addition to his parents, Wayne was preceded in death by his daughter, Susan Wingate, who passed on October 1, 2018.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Betty Ann Gorsuch Wingate; one daughter, Kathleen Wingate (Michael Warnstedt); one son, Douglas Wingate (Alicia); five grandchildren, Jonathan and Cara Wingate, Stephen, Christen, and Lauren Limberopoulos: two great-grandchildren, Natalie Williams and Connor Merta; and a sister, Beverly Karzak.
