      Ronnie Ray Bailey, 73, of Amarillo died Thursday, Aug. 23, 2012.

      Ronnie, the oldest of seven children, was born March 4, 1939, in Hall County to W.L. and Hallie Bailey. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957. He married Sue Daugherty on Feb. 27, 1959, in Memphis. He worked for White Swan Grocery until he started in the golf business. In 1968, he took a position at Hale County Country Club as a golf pro. He went to Tule Creek Country Club in Tulia in 1970, then to Southwest Golf Course in Amarillo, where he stayed for many years. Ronnie was a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, Top of Texas AA and attended Lamount Drive Baptist Church.

      He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. and Hallie Bailey; a brother, Jerry Don Bailey; and a grandson, Garrett James Elders.

      Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Hill and husband Marvin of Amarillo; two sons, Guy Bailey and wife Stacey of Abilene and Mike Bailey of Brazoria; two brothers, Larry Bailey and wife Naomi and Gilbert Bailey and wife Bobbie, all of Childress; three sisters, Cleta Caison, Carolyn Bailey and Wanda Meeh, all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Desiree Childers and Evany Reed and husband Charles, all of Amarillo, Bree Hancock and husband Cody of Fort Worth, Brook Bailey of Denton, Bear Bailey of Abilene and Jared Hill and Rebecca Hill, both of Canyon; two great-grandchildren, Tagg Childers and Paxten Childers, both of Amarillo; and his best friend, Betty Hughes of Amarillo.
