Ronnie, the oldest of seven children, was born March 4, 1939, in Hall County to W.L. and Hallie Bailey. He graduated from Lakeview High School in 1957. He married Sue Daugherty on Feb. 27, 1959, in Memphis. He worked for White Swan Grocery until he started in the golf business. In 1968, he took a position at Hale County Country Club as a golf pro. He went to Tule Creek Country Club in Tulia in 1970, then to Southwest Golf Course in Amarillo, where he stayed for many years. Ronnie was a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens Association, Top of Texas AA and attended Lamount Drive Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, W.L. and Hallie Bailey; a brother, Jerry Don Bailey; and a grandson, Garrett James Elders. Survivors include a daughter, Rhonda Hill and husband Marvin of Amarillo; two sons, Guy Bailey and wife Stacey of Abilene and Mike Bailey of Brazoria; two brothers, Larry Bailey and wife Naomi and Gilbert Bailey and wife Bobbie, all of Childress; three sisters, Cleta Caison, Carolyn Bailey and Wanda Meeh, all of Amarillo; seven grandchildren, Desiree Childers and Evany Reed and husband Charles, all of Amarillo, Bree Hancock and husband Cody of Fort Worth, Brook Bailey of Denton, Bear Bailey of Abilene and Jared Hill and Rebecca Hill, both of Canyon; two great-grandchildren, Tagg Childers and Paxten Childers, both of Amarillo; and his best friend, Betty Hughes of Amarillo. | Bailey, Ronnie Ray (I2908)

She was the oldest of nine children. Patience did not have an easy life. She had to quit school after the sixth grade to help her mother with chores and the younger children. While in school, her mother would also keep her home on Mondays to help with the laundry. She worked at Dickey's Mill in Oella for over 40 years. One of her jobs there was running one of the large looms. Patience was married three times: First to Richard Bell Godfrey, Jr., second to Albert Benjamin Church, and third to Ralph Kenneth Easton. She had two children. First was Calvin Thomas Godfrey, whose father was Sterling Kennon Collier III. The second was Robert Donald Godfrey, whose father was Richard Bell Godfrey, Jr. Patience passed away in her sleep on her 95th birthday at the home of her son Calvin Thomas Godfrey, who she lived with during her later years. He was born May 9, 1936 in Allamore, Texas, the ninth of twelve children, to William Frederick and Julia Segura Garlick. He married Nona Morris on July 8, 1957 in Sierra Blanca, Texas. Lee Roy was born into a ranching family and worked from an early age on the sheep and cattle ranches of West Texas. He loved to raise and trade livestock, and cherished the friendships he developed through the years. Lee Roy was very active in supporting the FFA and 4-H programs through stock shows, and spent countless hours working with the kids on their projects. Lee Roy attended Van Horn public schools and El Paso Community College. He served as a heavy weapons infantryman and paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, U.S. Army from 1955-1959. He continued his public service in 1979, serving as County Commissioner of Culberson County, Texas. Lee Roy worked in various fields throughout the years including ranching, farming, freight, and was a small business owner of a service station. However, his most treasured occupation was as a classroom tutor for ESL students and special needs students in the Fort Stockton ISD system from 1996 ? 2004. He loved to work with kids and believed in the potential of every child he met. Lee Roy and Nona retired and moved to La Grange, Texas in 2008. Together, they enjoyed the new friendships and the fellowship of the La Grange community. Lee Roy and his family enjoyed this time as it allowed him to become very active in supporting local sports, FFA and 4-H, and the community. Lee Roy loved the Lord, and through death he gained Christ in a higher degree. Survivors include his wife, Nona, of 55 years; four children: Levi Garlick and wife Becky; Marti Jo Stout and husband Justin; Lance Garlick; Jason Garlick and wife Shelah; nine grandchildren: Travis and Tanner Stout, Jacob, Hallie and Hannah Garlick, Capri and Loryn Garlick, Hayley Coleman, and Baby "G"; four sisters: Ida Mae Beasley of Carbondale, CO, Evelyn Enriquez of Dallas, Martha McElroy of Houston, Cecelia Petty of Pleasanton; three brothers: Henry Garlick of Fort Stockton, Marvin Garlick of Alpine, James Garlick of Balmorhea, plus numerous nieces and nephews. | Garlick, Lee Roy (I2957)

| 1028 | In Loving Memory Christopher Lynn Preston, aged 63, passed away on Wednesday, April 2, 2014 at his home in Garden Ridge, TX, as a result of complications of pancreatic cancer. Chris, the youngest of four children, was born at Great Lakes Naval Air Station on February 15, 1951 to Billie Dolora Crane Preston and Ennis Daniel Preston. Chris graduated from Highlands High School in the class of 1969. He attended Southern Methodist University and the University of Houston, where he received a Bachelor of Music Education. In 1998, he earned a Master of Music in music composition (with honors) from Texas State University. Chris was a public school teacher for over 30 years, first as a band director, then as a math teacher, and he served in the Fifth Army Band as trombonist and vocalist. Upon his retirement from public school teaching, he was a favorite substitute teacher at Keystone School. For over 28 years, Chris served as music director of Universal City United Methodist Church. Christopher and Deborah Preston married August 19, 1972, in San Antonio, Texas. Chris is survived by his wife, Deborah Bobbish Preston, his two daughters and son-in-law, Julia Preston Bucher and William Bucher, and Rachel Preston, his brothers and sister and their spouses Richard and Judy Preston, Pamela and William Cogley, and Michael and Tanya Preston, his brother- and sister-in-law Charles E. and Karen Bobbish, his nieces and nephews Kimber Fucello, Benjamin Preston, Jonathan Preston, Daniel Preston, Catherine Cogley, Christin Cogley, Jeffrey Cogley, Courtney Preston, Charles G. | 1045 | James "Bud" Elmore, 66, of Crossville, passed away March 22, 2006. Funeral services were conducted March 24 from the chapel of Crossville Memorial Funeral Home, with Mike Garrett officiating. Interment was in Crossville City Cemetery. Mr. Elmore was born Oct. 31, 1939 in Cumberland County, the son of Casto and Lillian Castleman Elmore. He was a stone mason and of the Baptist faith. He loved the lake, water skiing and reading. Born May 4, 1937 in Irvington, VA, he was the son of the late Albert and Myra Estelle Talbott. He was the husband of the late Genevieve B. "Jenny" Talbott, his wife of 49 yrs. who died in 2010. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force. He was the owner and administrator of Golden Age Guest Home,Inc. (n/k/a as Brinton Woods) until he retired in 2005. He was a quietly devoted man of God who served the community humbly all his life. For 45 yrs., he cared for and saw to it that every resident of Golden Age was cared for as his personal family. He was anonymously responsible for many youth in Carroll County attending Young Life summer camps. He was also a faithful supporter of Maryland Special Olympics and the Humane Society of the United States.
